Last comment was in 2008, but as of July 2010 there is some good news… freeway speed cameras have been turned off! Unfortunately, local city red light cameras are still active. Thought I’d post an update.

I just got a ticket from one of the mobile photo radar vehicles for going over the speed limit in Anthem last Tuesday. I was NOT speeding! I saw the signs, the camera and I don’t go more than 5 mph ever. My ticket does not even say how fast I was going. This is wrong.

Is it still considered being served if the server does not physically hand you the document and just leaves it taped to your front door?

Some legislators and police are telling people on T.V. if you are mailed a photo citation to just throw it away.

The arizona state law says with speed camera or red light citations you must be hand served the citation. The US mail is invalid way to deliver citation. And you don’t have to identify yourself. You do have to pay the server if one comes to your door. Pay for his labor and gas.

Most people don’t get served. Most are mailed. If you get a certified letter, it’s still an invalid way to deliver a citation. You can even sign for the certified mail. It still is invalid. Americanintegrity

YES, I WAS GOINT TO SURPRISE; THURSDAY 01/29/09. I HAD JUST GONE THROUGH WHITMAN,AZ. I THOUGHT, I HAD CLEARED THE TOWN. AND, I GUESS. I ASSUMED THE SPEED LIMIT HAD GONE BACK UP TO 65. I KNOW I WAS DOING 60. THE WEATHER WAS CLEAR,AND NO OTHER VEHICLE TRAFFIC WAS PRESENT. IT WAS 08:45 IN THE A.M. I SAW THE ENFORCEMENT VEHICLE BUT FELT,I WAS BACK IN THE 65 M.P.H ZONE I FEEL THAT MY SPEED WAS RESONABLE AND PRUDENT FOR THE TIME AND CIRCUMSTANCES AT THE TIME. THANK YOU. IS THIS GOING TO GO ON MY RECORD.AND ALSO BE FINED.! WHAT DO I DO NOW.?

I received a photo ticket but I was not the driver at that time. I lend my vehicle to a friend and he was the one driving at that time of the picture/ticket. My friend doesn’t live in USA, will I be the one paying for the ticket since the ticket is under my name?

@s joseph – if you are unsure of the consequences it’s best that you use this site to check the status of your tickets http://photoenforcement.azdps.gov/Inquiries/ it’s my understanding that having a CDL license is a bit more strict on the tickets issused if not addressed. I would imagine that if you just ignored them it could be very costly. As for points on your license you will need to contact MVD for the accurate answer. Sorry I couldn’t help more.
